What is a C & LP?

A C & LP (or Community & Learning Partnership) combines, integrates and develops new and existing services that support 0-19 year olds and their families

  • Develop new services
  • Integrate universal and targeted services
  • Improve the understanding of existing services

The initial function of the C & LP is to ensure the core offer of children's centres and extended schools is met, including statutory and voluntary agencies.


Children's Centre

  • Childcare - 10 hours per day, 48 weeks a year
  • Local childminder support
  • Early education
  • Family support & outreach services
  • Family support & outreach services
  • Health services including: antenatal, health, visiting, speech & language therapy, smoking cessation & obesity
  • Key transition point information
  • Links to Job Centre Plus

Extended Schools

  • 8am until 6pm - all year round
  • Parenting Support including family learning and information
  • Signpost to specialist services i.e. speech therapy & CAMHS
  • Wide range of out of school activities including music, drama, arts & sports
  • Community access to school facilities - ICT, sport, art & adult learning
